It’s the cafe that opened before the street had foot traffic. The workshop that took three generations to perfect. The franchise that grew from a single site into a household name. Behind every sale is a story — and behind every story is an owner who has earned the right to choose how it ends.

Boston Brokers is a full-service business brokerage based in Victoria, Australia, built for the owners and buyers who take that choice seriously. For over thirty years, our principals have guided transactions across the full arc of Australian enterprise — from neighbourhood hospitality venues and specialty retail to leisure, tourism, health and wellness, trades, logistics, professional services, manufacturing, and multi-site groups positioned for institutional capital.

We work the full spectrum, from $250,000 founder-led businesses to $25,000,000 platform acquisitions — and we work each of them with the same discipline: confidential marketing, qualified buyer vetting, rigorous valuation, and a quiet, deliberate negotiation process that protects everything the business has taken years to build.

We are not a listings site. We are not a volume shop. We are a small team of senior brokers who handle a small number of mandates, one owner at a time — because selling a business is a decision, not a transaction.

When the moment comes to move on, move up, or bring in the right partner, you deserve a broker who understands the weight of what you’ve built. That’s the work we do, and it’s the only work we do.

The sectors we know.

Senior brokers don't start a network when a mandate lands. We bring one.

How we work

Four principles we don’t break.

Every mandate, every market, every sector. The fundamentals of a clean sale haven’t changed in thirty years — and neither have ours.

01
Confidentiality is the starting line.
Nothing goes public without your explicit consent. Staff, suppliers, customers and competitors stay out of the process until you’re ready for them to be part of it. Every buyer signs an NDA before they see a single number.
02
Senior brokers only.
Your sale isn’t handed down to a junior. You work directly with a principal from first conversation to final signature. No call centres, no outsourced IMs, no one chasing commission targets.
03
Buyers are vetted before the business is.
We qualify every prospective buyer on funding, intent and fit before they see your information memorandum. Tyre-kickers don’t get past the front door — which is why serious buyers take us seriously.
04
The deal isn’t done at signing.
We stay with every mandate through due diligence, contract negotiation, bank and lender conversations, and the often-messy transition window. A clean sale at settlement is the only kind of sale we count.

The team behind the mandates.

In their words

Boston Brokers ran a tightly held campaign — no signage on the door, the right buyers in the room, and a settlement that protected our team and the brand.

The discretion was the difference.

Vendor — Carlton
Independent restaurant group · Founder

Most agents see a P&L.

The team at Boston Brokers walked the floor at service, asked about wage spread and rent reviews, and priced the business honestly. We sold inside our window.

Every meeting was with someone genuine.

No tyre-kickers, no time wasted with NDAs that went nowhere. By the third week we had two offers within 5% of each other.

They presented three businesses.

The fourth — the one we asked about — they advised us against. That call alone saved us a year of pain. We bought the right one six weeks later.

Our IM read like a brand book, not a property listing.

Architectural photography, a financial pack a buyer's accountant could actually use, and a campaign that respected what we'd built.

I was told a regional restaurant would be hard to move.

Boston Brokers brought a Melbourne buyer to Ballarat, ran a clean campaign, and we settled above what I'd hoped for.

Most brokers treat retail like a fire sale.

Boston Brokers ran the campaign the way they'd run a CBD restaurant — proper IM, proper photography, proper buyer screening. The new owner walked into a brand they wanted to keep.

They told us a clean Peninsula campaign would take eight to ten weeks.

We had an unconditional contract in seven. The shortlist was three buyers, all funded, all serious — no parade.

Frequently asked

About Boston Brokers.

How long has Boston Brokers been operating?
Boston Brokers has been operating since 2009. In 17 years we have sold 350+ businesses and transacted over $200M, making us one of the longest-running boutique business brokerages in Melbourne and Victoria.
What sectors does Boston Brokers specialise in?
We specialise in hospitality (cafes, restaurants, bars, hotels, function venues), boutique retail, accommodation/tourism, health and fitness, professional services, and selected B2B businesses. Approximately 75% of our mandates are food and hospitality.
How is Boston Brokers different from a generalist broker?
Three things. First, every mandate is led by a deal-maker with sector operating experience. Second, we have a hand-built buyer list of 2,000+ pre-qualified buyers built over 17 years. Third, we present every mandate confidentially under a code name — staff and competitors never know.
Where are you based?
Boston Brokers operates from 333 La Trobe Street, Melbourne VIC 3000. We act on mandates across Greater Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, regional Victoria, and selected interstate opportunities through our broker network.
